Story #8: mechanical keyboards! The Infinity Keyboard

The Infinity Keyboard: finally a programmable keyboard!

Massdrop is a site that sells specialized products for enthusiasts: this is why it is specialized in three main fields: keyboards, photography and gaming. That’s where I found the Infinity Keyboard

It is a very small keyboard (it has no numeric keypad). These types of keyboard are called “60% keyboards”.

But, like the Ergofip, it’s fully programmable: you put the letters you want on the keys you want, to make you faster and more efficient, whether at work or in the professional world..

Its major flaw: Alps switches

It was possible to order it with different types of switches than Cherry MX. What a mistake!

Here are some photos of Alps switches on my Infinity Keyboard:

You’ll find an explanation of what is a switch and why mechanical keyboards are the answer to the life the universe and everything here.
Alps switches are very hard to unmount.

They are pleasant to use, but a mechanical keypad must be able to be cleaned easily. I broke two switches trying to remove the plastic cap (which is very common when you want to clean your keyboard).
The programming of the keyboard itself is very complex and requires very advanced developper skills.

The Ergofip, is fully programmable, with a clean interface: you can configure your Ergofip very quickly!.
